XBOX 360 Wireless Controller Charger Question?

  1. just typing out loud says:

Nope. The controller will probably come with the standard battery pack and free disposable batteries. MS says only use Alkaline AA (LR6) in it. Using something else could void your warranty but is probably safe.

I was actually wondering this myself the other day after many years and finally asked here to see if anyone had some thoughts I was missing.

There should be no problem using NiMh rechargeable AA batteries you can buy just about anywhere. You’ll need to have a separate charger but on the upside… while I like my play and charge kit, until the batteries recharge you’re tied to the console by the USB charger cord, or you leave the console on to charge up the batteries.

  2. Justin says:

    you can either use
    1. AA batteries, they don’t last long and over the long run this is the most expensive option, if your thinking the AA batteries will last forever like they do in a TV remote think again, Xbox 360 uses allot more energy then a TV remote and the batteries will die after 24-48 hours of gameplay

    2. play and charge kit, this is the overall cheapest way to do it it comes with 1 permanent battery that you put in your controller and a wire to recharge it with while the system is on, an hour of charging wired will probably give you 24 hours of wireless gameplay, you will know when its fully charged by the green light

    3. quick charge kit, this is for people who like to buy the most expensive luxury option, with this you can charge the controller even while the system is off, really not necessary over the play and charge kit, instead of plugging this directly into your xbox 360 you just plug it into any power outlet in your house it can charge up to 2 batteries simultaneously and when the lights go from red to green its fully charged
